Why CNC Resin Inlay Wooden Products Take a Few Days to Produce picture

As eager shoppers ourselves, we understand that eagerness waiting for your beautiful, custom-made CNC resin inlay wooden products – 5 to 10 takes take seem such a long time.

We wanted to take a moment to explain why creating these exquisite pieces of art can take a few days.

Crafting Perfection Takes Time

  1. Production Queue (1-2 days): Before we even begin the crafting process, your order enters our production queue. We handle multiple orders at any given time, ensuring each one gets the attention it deserves. The time spent in the queue depends on the volume of orders we have and the complexity of each project. This initial waiting period ensures that every piece is crafted with the utmost care and precision. Rest assured we do our utmost best to reduce time in the production queue.
  2. Design and Precision Cutting (a few hours to 1-2 days): Every product begins with either a unique design from the ground up, or the customisation of an existing product. We meticulously create detailed blueprints for each piece. Once the design is finalized, we use CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines to precisely cut the wood. This process ensures that each piece is perfect, with intricate patterns and shapes.
  3. Resin Inlay Application (1 hour to many hours or even days): After cutting, the wood is carefully prepared for the resin inlay. This involves cleaning, sanding, and sealing the wood to ensure the resin adheres perfectly and does not “bleed” into the grain of the wood. The resin is then mixed and poured into the intricate designs, filling every groove and crevice. For multi colour design, we may need to wait up to 24 hours for a colour to cure before the next colour is poured.  This step requires great care and attention to detail to avoid bubbles and imperfections.
  4. Curing and Setting (1-2 days): The resin needs time to cure, which means it must be left undisturbed to harden and set. Depending on the type of resin and environmental conditions, this can take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours. This curing process is crucial to achieving a strong, durable, and beautiful finish.
  5. Finishing Touches (1-2 days): Once the resin has fully cured, the piece undergoes a series of finishing processes. This includes additional sanding to ensure a smooth surface, followed by polishing to bring out the natural beauty and shine of both the wood and resin. Finally, any additional treatments, such as oiling or sealing, are applied to protect the piece and enhance its longevity. We typically apply hard wax oils like Rubio Monocoat Oil 2C to our products. This finishing process not only enhances the natural beauty of the wood but also provides an extra layer of protection. The oil is carefully applied and then left to dry and cure. The product is fully cure after about 7 days, but can be handled after a few hours. The product should be limited to light usage during the curing process. We like to let the finished product cure for at least 24 hours before we ship it to you.

How Complexity Can Increase Timelines

The complexity of a project plays a significant role in determining the overall production time. Here are a few factors that can extend the timeline:

  • Intricate Designs: The more detailed and intricate the design, the longer it takes to create the blueprint and execute the precise cutting. Complex patterns and shapes require additional time for both design and machining.
  • Larger Pieces: Larger projects naturally take more time to produce. The increased size means more material to cut, inlay, and finish.
  • Multiple Inlay Colours: Using multiple resin colours in a single piece adds extra steps to the process. Each color may need to be poured separately and allowed to partially cure before the next colour is added, which extends the curing time.
  • Additional Customizations: Special requests, such as engraving or adding extra features, add more layers to the process, requiring additional time to complete.
  • Environmental Conditions: Resin curing times can vary based on temperature and humidity. If conditions are not ideal, it may take longer for the resin to fully harden.

Quality Over Speed

We understand that waiting can be challenging, but we assure you that the result is worth the wait. Our commitment to quality means we take the time necessary to produce a product that not only meets but exceeds your expectations. Each piece is a labour of love, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern technology to create something truly special.

Thank you for your understanding and patience. We can't wait for you to enjoy your one-of-a-kind CNC resin inlay wooden product!
